Collecting new diary comics for the first time since the publication of my book DIARY COMICS. Debuting at TCAF and then begins shipping the following Friday.
I'm having some bad money troubles right now, as I wait for a hopefully lucrative/dream opportunity to coalesce, and pay the price for turning down a bunch of work in anticipation of same. I won't go into particulars, but the stress is real and 24/7!
So if you've ever wanted a little drawing from me, something that would look nice in a frame or just Scotch-taped up next to your desk, or a present for a friend, this is your chance, and it will help me. The drawing will be of something I think you'll like--if I don't know you, I'll try to make it pretty universal, or at the very least something that *I* like. Pen and ink and watercolor on a 4" x 6" piece of 140lb watercolor paper, shipping straight to you.
Thanks in advance! And if you need it in a hurry (say, for a present), let me know and I'll prioritize it. Otherwise I'll be filling these in between other paying work.
I’ll draw a dinosaur of your choosing, in this style and facing right,
like the dinosaurs in my book BEHOLD! THE DINOSAURS!, in india ink on a piece of 8” x 10” archival bristol board, for $100 USD + shipping.
Note 1: I reserve the right to refuse any request for any reason. For instance if there’s very little evidence of a dinosaur’s existence past a couple of bones, or if I’m just tired of drawing Tyrannosaurus Rexes.
Note 2: for the bigger dinosaurs, longer than 75 feet, you can choose
to pay an extra $100 and I’ll draw them to scale on 11” x 17” bristol.
For instance, Spinosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and so on. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
11" x 14" archival giclee print, printed by the fine folks at INPRNT. Ships flat via USPS Priority Mail for domestic orders, or USPS First Class International for all others. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
SIDE NOTE: Nearly all the houses in this drawing are cribbed from photos by Ed Panar, who is great, and who you should check out.
These are three of my 6 pieces for the collaborative show "We Saw Together," put on by myself, Dylan Chorneau, and Christopher Holston. Each piece is 18" x 24" on high grade Arches watercolor paper, hand-mounted to a wood panel, and hand-framed and waxed by us. They are all pretty handsome in person, I must say. The show itself consisted of 6 individual trios, with 1 piece by each of us in each trio. We each started from a common phrase or idea and then went our own directions, with the only constraint being the size and style of framing. I've changed some of the titles from their original versions, as they are now displayed out of context with their sister pieces. Shipping price includes copious protective measures and insurance in the amount of each piece's price.
I made a Tumblr post for each piece in order to show additional photos:
"The Man Of Science" (the one with the seated man with a weird head) $300
india ink and acrylic ink on watercolor paper
"What Senses Do We Lack?" (the one with a million faces) ($500)
india ink, marker, and pencil on watercolor paper
in certain areas non lightfast markers were used, so over time the sense of layering will intensify (purposefully).
"Keep Redesigning The Wrong House" (the one with the tree) ($400)
india ink on watercolor paper
5" x 6.5"
236 b&w pages
This is the brand new collected edition of my Diary Comics strip. I've edited it down and then added new material in to make the whole thing more of a single linear entity, which I think has improved everything considerably. New 17-page introduction, new interstitial pages, new sweet design, new new new.
Copies bought from me come with a sketch on the dedication page, and will be personalized upon request. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
Published by Nobrow Press, this big mother unfolds to 6.5', and features two sides for a total of 13 feet of dinosaurs marching along towards [SPOILERS] their fate. Editions purchased here come with a free color sketch on the back, and will be personalized upon request. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
I'll draw a single person, character, or other entity on a 5" x 7" piece of bristol board, generally in black and white ink unless I feel like adding color (my preference). There are three catches:
1) I'LL ONLY DRAW A PERSON ONCE, so if there's someone you're really into, act fast. The only exception to this is if it's a sufficiently separate instance of that person: i.e young Bill Murray versus older Bill Murray, or Han Solo in his winter gear in Empire Strikes Back, versus his vest-style outfit in Star Wars.
2) REAL PEOPLE must be somewhat famous, either historically or otherwise, meaning I'm either already aware of them or could quickly become aware of them. Cochise, Harriet Tubman, and George Clooney are examples of people who would fit this category. Your favorite teacher, local mayor, or mom would not--if you'd like me to draw someone *personally* significant to you, as opposed to more universally significant, we can work out a regular old commission for that, outside of this offer.
3) NOT REAL PEOPLE must be fairly significant as well, either among the major characters of a work of fiction, or sufficiently recognizable that I could figure out who they were pretty quickly if not already familiar with them. If I'm into it fine, but I'll tend to turn down requests where I can't find visual reference online pretty easily, especially if it's something pretty esoteric.
As always, I reserve the right to refuse any request for any reason--if so I'll let you know pretty promptly, and refund your money if we can't come up with a replacement we're both enthusiastic about. Drawings will ship flat. Currently I estimate about 3-4 weeks for drawings to be completed (I have lots of other work to do and try to draw these when I'm really pumped about it so they look good)--let me know if you want them earlier, for instance as a gift. Okay!
OH! And be sure you put who you want in the "Instructions To Seller" space during the Paypal checkout process. Feel free to email me at dustyATdharbinDOTcom with any questions or to confirm I got your order.
